Most WordPress bloggers just “add a new post” without maximizing the use of their Jupiter Theme and Template. When I first downloaded my Jupiter template, I was amazed by how well-designed their sample blog post was. Though I wasn’t exactly sure how to create something like it.
This is why I’ve decided to do my homework and share it with you! Before getting to the nitty gritty of how to use Jupiter’s awesome blog shortcodes, let’s take a look at the anatomy of a high-converting blog page. After all, you want your blog post to perform well. Don’t we all? Here are some tips you can consider before you publish a new blog post on your website.
What You Need to Create a Great WordPress Blog Post
Your headline or H1 should include your relevant keyword. It has to be both brief and complete. With the headline alone, your readers and website visitors should know what you’re going to be talking about. Make it interesting and catchy!
2. White space
White space improves your content’s readability. Generous white spaces in the margins and in between paragraphs improve understanding by 20% according to a study by Lin in 2014. It would be useless to have great content if your readers cannot comprehend. So don’t be afraid to use white space around your headlines, paragraphs, and CTAs.
3. Place images
Pictures will tell your visitors what your content is all about before they even start reading so make sure it is relevant to the article. It is also a good way to attract your visitors and keep them interested.
4. Click to tweet button
Adding a click to tweet button will boost engagement from your readers. You don’t want people to end up just visiting your blog. You want them to be engaged, and this is a great way to start.
Adding a video is another great way to highlight your blog. Marketing statistics reveal that marketers who have videos in their contents increase their revenue 49% quicker than those who do not have videos. It is best to keep your videos short though because most consumers prefer videos under one minute.
6. Embed code for infographics
An infographic makes your blog more appealing. It will even be better if you include the embed code for your infographics. This way, it will be easier for them to share the image. Doing this builds your authority in your niche.
It will be difficult, or even impossible for you to reach your blogging goals without CTAs; unless you are really just blogging for fun. This, I believe, is not the case if you are reading this article. Properly placed CTAs will boost conversion. So, where should you place them? Let’s go through the options and reasoning together:
- Below your post
Here, they’ve reached the end of your post. They found your content valuable and they most probably would like more from you. Make it easy for them to take the next step by adding a CTA right after they read your blog. You can direct them to your services page, contact page or you can ask them to subscribe.
- At the side bar
Not everyone will reach the end of your post so make sure they still have a chance to convert even without finishing your post.
- Slide-in CTA
A static CTA may not be noticed by your readers so you can add a slide-in CTA to grab their attention. The CTA will appear from the right corner of your monitor while your readers scroll the post, without covering the contents.
8. Signup form
Building your email list is crucial for your blog especially for email marketing. The only way to do this is to add a signup form to your blog.
You can place it on the upper sidebar so a visitor can see it right away. It is best to add a brief sentence on the benefit they will get from subscribing. It will be easier for them to sign up if they know what they are getting in return.
9. Social Sharing
To include social sharing on your blog, Jupiter lets you use a wp plugin to add this feature. Make it convenient for your readers to share your content by adding this plugin. It is best to have it floating on the sidebar so they won’t need to scroll all the way up or all the way down just to share your content.
It will also be helpful to display your social sharing count. They will be influenced to share or like your content if they see that others have done it too.
10. And of course, a highly useful and helpful content for your readers
All the features I listed will attract and hold your visitors, but only valuable content will make your readers trust you and come back for more. Be consistent in crafting high-quality content because you do not know which one of your posts a visitor will stumble upon.
Give away as much content as you can. Content generosity is one of the keys you need to succeed in your blogging career.
