How to add a blog post in the Ken

Blog Post – To add a post into The Ken theme you need to follow the steps below:

1Add New Post.  

Go to Dashboard Menu -> Posts -> New Post to open up the new post window.

2Set Screen Options.

Click on the top right Screen Options button. It will show some options regarding the metaboxes shown on the post editing page. Make sure that you check the options below:

  1. Ken Page Layout
  2. Format
  3. Categories
  4. Tags
  5. Featured Image
  6. Ken Posts Options
  7. Ken Styling Options
  8. Ken Widget Options
  9. Excerpt
3Add Post Title.  

Add a title for your blog post.

4Add Excerpt.  

Scroll down the page to find the excerpt box. Add your excerpt text inside that box. Excerpt text is the copy which will show up in the blog listing and it represents the intro text for the blog post. Ken does not support the read more tag, so this is the way you can add your intro text.

5Add Full Text.  

Use the default editor of WordPress to add your blog’s Full Text. You can use Visual Composer for the full text if you want. For that you need to enable the Visual Composer for posts. Go to Dashboard Menu -> Visual Composer, enable the post checkbox, then save the settings.

6Set Ken Post Options.  

Use the Ken Posts Options metabox to fine tune your blog post. Details about each option inside Ken Posts Options are as follows:

Page Elements

Use this option to hide different parts of the post. Available options are:

  1. Remove Header
  2. Remove Page Title
  3. Remove Header & Page Title
  4. Remove Page Title & Footer
  5. Remove Page Title & Sub Footer
  6. Remove Page Title & Footer & Sub Footer
  7. Remove Footer
  8. Remove Sub Footer
  9. Remove Footer & Sub Footer
  10. Remove Footer & Page Title
  11. Remove Footer & Sub Footer & Page Title
  12. Remove Header & Footer & Sub Footer
  13. Remove Header & Page Title & Footer
  14. Remove Header & Page Title & Footer & Sub Footer

Stick Template?

Enable this option if you want no padding space below the header section or above the footer section. Enable this option if you want to add a slideshow at the top of the post to make the slideshow and the rest of the content stick together nicely.

Header Toolbar?

Enable this option if you want to have a Header Toolbar area for this post. To add information inside the Header Toolbar area you need to go to Theme Settings -> Header.

Featured Image?

Enable this option if you want to show a featured image in the post. A featured image can be uploaded to the post through the option available in the Featured Image metabox.

Show Meta?

Enable this option if you want to show details about the blog post on the front end including the category, publishing date, author, etc.

Gallery Images

This option will be available if you set the post format to Gallery. Use this option to add images you want to have in your post as an image gallery.

Video URL

This option will be available if you set the post format to Video. Use this option to add a video URL from famous video sharing services such as Youtube or Vimeo.

Upload MP3 File

This option will be available if you set the post format to Audio. Use this option to upload your audio file in MP3 format. You also need to provide an OGG format for cross-browser compatibility.

Upload OGG File

This option will be available if you set the post format to Audio. Use this option to upload your audio file in OGG format. You also need to provide an MP3 format for cross-browser compatibility.

SoundCloud

This option will be available if you set the post format to Audio. Use this option to add an embed code for SoundCloud audio. You can go to share -> embed in SoundCloud and then copy/paste the code in this option. You also can use a WordPress shortcode for SoundCloud.

7Set Ken Styling Options.  

Use Ken Styling Options to override global settings for your blog post. Global settings are options in which you set Theme Settings. For more detailed information about options available in this section please click here.

8Set Ken Widget Options.  

Use this set of options to organize Widgets you want to use for your blog post. For more detailed information about Ken Widget Options click here.

9Set Ken Page Layout.

Use this set of options to set the layout of your blog post. Available options are:

Page Layout

Use this option to set the page layout of the post. Available options are:

  1. No Sidebar
  2. Right Sidebar
  3. Left Sidebar

Choose a Sidebar

Use this option to decide which custom sidebar you want to use for your blog post. For more information about custom sidebars please click here.

10Set Post Format.

Use this option to set the blog post format. Available options are:

  1. Standard
  2. Image
  3. Gallery
  4. Video
  5. Audio
  6. Quote
  7. Link

11Set Category.

Use this option to set the category you want your blog post go into.

12Set Feature Image.  

Ken Blog Post 10

Use this option to upload and add a feature image for your blog post.

13Publish.

Click on the Publish button to save your blog post and you’re done!


Further Configuration

To fine tune your blog post, you need to go to Theme Settings > Blog to set proper options for Feature Image Height and other information. To know more details about those options please read this article.
