Installing Plugins and Add-ons

The next step after installing and registering Jupiter WordPress theme, is installing plugins and add-ons to use a drag and drop page builder and empower the theme with extra functionalities.

In this article, we explain about different methods of installing bundled/3rd party plugins and add-ons.


Before Installation

  • Check the Release notes page.
  • Install the plugins in a test/staging environment to test plugins with your theme.
  • Backup your website.
  • Deactivate caching plugins temporarily.
  • Check online if there are known plugin conflicts for that particular plugin.

Installing Plugins

Jupiter theme requires several important plugins. At the moment, installation of two of them are required. The rest of them are optional and you may install them based on your website requirements.

There are three methods for installing the plugins.

Jupiter Automatic Installation (V 5.7+)

Jupiter version 5.7 introduced a new feature for plugin management. This new feature allows you to easily install, update, activate or remove plugins from your Jupiter control panel. This method is recommended as it takes less than a minute to install a plugin.

As an example, we will install WPBakery Page Builder, a required plugin for Jupiter which comes bundled with the theme.

1From WordPress left menu, go to Jupiter > Control Panel.

2From the control panel left menu, go to Required Plugins.

3Next to WPBakery Page Builder, click on Activate button.

4A new pop-up window will appear, click on Continue button.

5After a couple of seconds, a new pop-up window will appear. Click on Ok button.

6WPBakery Page Builder is now installed and activated on your website. It will be displayed above in Active Plugins section.

WordPress Automatic Installation

This method is recommended and should be used if you are using Jupiter version 5.6 or older. As an example, we will install and activate WPBakery Page Builder, a required plugin for Jupiter which comes bundled with the theme.

1From WordPress left menu, go to Appearance > Install Plugins.

2Click on the Install button below WPBakery Page Builder.

3After the successful installation, from WordPress left menu, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.

4Click on the Activate button below WPBakery Page Builder.

Manual Installation

If you have a plugin in a .zip format you may upload it manually and then install it.

1From WordPress left menu, go to Plugins > Add new.

2From the top left corner of the screen, click on Upload Plugin.

3Upload a file in .zip format then click on Install Now.

4After the plugin is done installing, click on Activate.

3rd Party Plugins Installation

It is highly recommended use a test/staging environment to test 3rd party plugins with your customizations and see how your website is affected, before installing the plugin on your live website.

1From WordPress left menu, go to Plugins > Add new.

2Search for a plugin by typing into Search Plugins input field.

3On the plugin you wish to install, click Install Now.

4After the plugin is done installing, click on Activate.

Installing Add-ons

Add-ons are exclusive free extensions only for Jupiter theme which bring more functionality and customizations.
