Testimonials Shortcode

The testimonial page acts as a platform to show how your current customers have benefited from your product or service. Adding testimonials to your website can be an extremely effective way to build trust and increase your company’s reputation.

To display testimonials in the Ken theme, you’ll need to follow two main steps: adding items to the testimonial page and adding the testimonials shortcode to a page to show the testimonials items.

Creating Testimonial Posts

To add a new item:

1From the WordPress left menu, go to Testimonials > Add New Testimonial.

2Enter a title, choose an image and fill out the necessary information.

3Click Publish.


Displaying Testimonial Posts

After adding testimonial items, you can display them on a page of your website.

To show the testimonial items:

1Add a new page or edit an existing page.

2From the Visual Composer screen, click on the + button.

3In the Add Element pop-up screen, search for Testimonials and click on it to be added to the page.

4When the shortcode is added, a new pop-up screen called Testimonials Settings will open that allows you to configure the shortcode settings.

5Click on Save Changes and publish or update the page to check the result. It will show all the available testimonial items.


Configuring Testimonials Shortcode Settings

You can set different settings for Testimonials shortcode: select the appropriate style, show specific items, etc. The testimonials shortcode settings are described below:

Setting Description

Count Sets the number of testimonials you want to show. For an unlimited count you need to set this option value to -1.
Slides Animation Sets the animation for the testimonial items change. Available options are:
Slide, Fade.

Showing Specific Items

There is a setting in the testimonial settings pop-up that allow you to show the items based on specific IDs: Select Specific Testimonials.

Setting Description

Select Specific Testimonials Only shows the specified items.

Altering the Item Sorting

There are two settings in the testimonial settings pop-up that allow you to alter the items’ sorting: Order and Orderby

By default, the order and orderby settings are set to Descending and Date therefore it sorts the older items ahead of the newer items.

Setting Description

Order Sets the ascending or descending order of the Orderby parameter.
Orderby Sorts the items based on the selected parameter (date, menu order, title, …).

Configuring Testimonials Styling

You can style testimonials using the following settings:

Setting Description

Style Sets the style for the shortcode. Available options are: Boxed Style, Quotation Style, Modern Style.
Skin This option will be available if you set the testimonials style to Quotation Style. Use this option to set a proper skin scheme for testimonials. Available options are: Dark, Light.

Styling the Testimonials Content

Setting Description

Font Family Sets a font for the shortcode.
Quote Text Size? Sets the text size of the quote.
Quote Text Color? Sets the text color for the quote.
Author Text Size? Sets the text size of the author.
Author Text Color? Sets the text color for the author.
Company Name Text Size? Sets the text size of the company name.
Company Name Text Color? Sets the text color for the company name.

Adding an Entrance Animation

To make the testimonial items visible on scroll with animation, there is a setting in the testimonial settings pop-up called Viewport Animation. Using this setting is easy and straightforward but if you need a step-by-step tutorial, read the Configuring a shortcode’s entrance animation article.

Configuring the Visibility for Devices

To make the testimonials shortcode visible only for some devices such as Phones, Tablets, Mega Tablets, Netbooks, Desktops, there is a setting in testimonials settings pop-up which is called Visibility For Devices. The usage of this setting is easy and straightforward but if you need a step by step tutorial, read Configuring the visibility for devices article.

Adding an Extra Class Name

The Extra Class Name field in the settings pop-up allows you to add an extra class name to the shortcode. It’s useful when you need to target the shortcode in a stylesheet or JavaScript file.
