Updating plugins and add-ons helps you benefit from the latest functionalities and bug fixes, as well as secure your website against vulnerabilities.

Before Updating

  • Check the Release notes page and changelog of the plugins and add-ons.
  • Install the plugins in a test/staging environment to test the plugins with your theme.
  • Backup your website.
  • Deactivate caching plugins temporarily.

Updating Plugins

The plugins update process is easy and straightforward. In following sections, we explain how to update bundled and third-party plugins.

Updating Bundled Plugins

Bundled plugins are included in the Jupiter theme as well as their update.

  • WPBakery Visual Composer (Modified Version)
  •  Artbees Themes Captcha
  • Layer Slider
  • Slider Revolution
  • Master Slider

In this example, we explain how to update the WPBakery Visual Composer (Modified Version) plugin.

Note: Before updating any of the bundled plugins, you must update the Jupiter theme first. Read the Updating Jupiter theme and child theme article for more information.

Jupiter Control Panel

From WordPress left menu, go to Jupiter > Control Panel.

From the control panel, click on Required Plugins.

Next to a plugin which needs an update, click on Update.

WordPress Default Way

From the WordPress left menu, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins, and then Deactivate the WPBakery Visual Composer (Modified Version) plugin.

From the WordPress left menu, go to Appearance > Install Plugins, and then click on the Install button under Visual Composer.

After successfully updating, from the WordPress left menu, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.

Activate the WPBakery Visual Composer (Modified Version) plugin.

Note: All of your website content made with Visual Composer will be safe and won’t be affected by the update.

Updating Third-Party Plugins

From the WordPress left menu, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.

If an update for the plugin is available, you will be presented with the update notification below that plugin. Read the plugin update changelog.

Click on the Update Now button. Be patient while WordPress updates the plugin.

Updating Add-ons

Add-ons are free extensions exclusively made for the Jupiter theme which bring more functionality and customizations.

Note: At the moment, add-ons are not yet ready for production and they will be released with a future version of the theme.
