Updating Plugins and Add-ons

Updating plugins and add-ons helps you benefit from the latest functionalities and bug fixes, as well as secure your website against vulnerabilities.

In this article, we’ll explain the different methods of updating bundled/third party plugins and add-ons


Before Updating

  • Check the Release notes page and changelog of the plugins and add-ons.
  • Install the plugins in a test/staging environment to test the plugins with your theme.
  • Backup your website.
  • Deactivate caching plugins temporarily.

Updating Plugins

The plugins update process is easy and straightforward. In following sections, we explain how to update bundled and third-party plugins.

Updating Bundled Plugins

Bundled plugins are included in the Jupiter theme as well as their update.

  • WPBakery Visual Composer (Modified Version)
  •  Artbees Themes Captcha
  • Layer Slider
  • Slider Revolution
  • Master Slider

In this example, we explain how to update the WPBakery Visual Composer (Modified Version) plugin.

Jupiter Control Panel

1From WordPress left menu, go to Jupiter > Control Panel.

2From the control panel, click on Required Plugins.

3Next to a plugin which needs an update, click on Update.

WordPress Default Way

1From the WordPress left menu, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins, and then Deactivate the WPBakery Visual Composer (Modified Version) plugin.

2From the WordPress left menu, go to Appearance > Install Plugins, and then click on the Install button under Visual Composer.

3After successfully updating, from the WordPress left menu, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.

4Activate the WPBakery Visual Composer (Modified Version) plugin.

Updating Third-Party Plugins

1From the WordPress left menu, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.

2If an update for the plugin is available, you will be presented with the update notification below that plugin. Read the plugin update changelog.

3Click on the Update Now button. Be patient while WordPress updates the plugin.
