Cannot install any theme on a VPS (2GB Ram + 2GB swap). Installer stucks

Cannot install any theme on a VPS (2GB Ram + 2GB swap). Theme Gets stuck at the last stage: Installing in progress… Custom tables are imported.

Please help as this makes the product unuseful to me.
