I created a taxonomy called “city”. I added it to the default “Post” post type.

Right now, I have posts showing up as “example.com/category/post-name”. What I would like is a way to have the permalink be like this “example.com/city/category/post-name”. So for example, if the post titled “Welcome!” has a category “food” and its city is “newyork”, the permalink will be “example.com/newyork/food/welcome”.

    Is this doable?

I searched the forum and found this: https://themes.artbees.net/forums/topic/how-to-add-taxonomy-in-custom-post-type-permalink/ but the answer of the support person is way off (it’s not about breadcrumbs but about permalinks).

    Please help. Thank you!

    Hello,

Do you mean you want to show 2 categories in the URL?

Can you provide WP Dashboard credentials in the private reply and the post URL?

    Regards.

    Hi There

By default the Single Pages won’t show category name However, You can create your own Breadcrumb structure by making a Custom Page Title template like this https://themes.artbees.net/docs/breadcrumb-element/

You can use the Yoast SEO breadcrumbs feature. Please refer to the article: https://yoast.com/help/implement-wordpress-seo-breadcrumbs/

and add the Yoast shortcode to show the breadcrumbs like https://take.ms/VwO9N

Please try and let us know 🙂

    Hi Amir,

I DO NOT need to show breadcrumbs. I would like the URL itself to have category/taxonomy slugs.

Alexander Hustol above was on the right track. Was he able to check the backend? He asked for the credentials.

    Hello,

You can try using this plugin:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-post-type-permalinks/

or add custom code in the functions.php file as described here:

    https://rudrastyh.com/wordpress/taxonomy-slug-in-post-type-url.html

If you have any difficulties, please provide FTP credentials in the private reply.

    Regards.
