#44052 Issue with blog archive
yellobee 8 months ago
I have an issue with the custom blog page. I created a custom blog page with sidebar to be able to customize it more than the default Blog Archive. The problem is that when clicking on the categories or monthly archives, the layout changes. Is there a way to customize that layout to the same as the main blog archive? Right now it displays all posts in full with a huge title.
I only need to edit the typography of the title to be smaller and the posts to have an excerpt with a read more button (instead of showing the whole post).
I tried creating a template for the blog archive and applying it in Customize>blog>blog archive but it didn’t work either.

As I see you are using old theme version 1.10.0, but the latest one is 1.15.1.
Please update your theme to the latest version at first.
How to update the theme you can find in these articles:
1. Automatic update https://themes.artbees.net/docs/updating-jupiter-x-theme-automatically/
2. Updating via WP Dashboard https://themes.artbees.net/docs/updating-jupiter-x-theme-via-wordpress-dashboard/
3. Updating via FTP https://themes.artbees.net/docs/updating-jupiter-x-theme-via-ftp/
Important! Don’t forget to create full site backup including the database before starting the update process.
Let us know if the issue persists after the theme update.

I updated the theme and plugins but the issue persists.
In the Blog Page, when you click on one of the months under the Archives, would it be possible to show a listing of the posts like on the main page rather than just all the posts from that month running on top of one another. If you click on December, for example, you get all of the posts and the video starts playing.

Thank you, this solves the issue of the excerpt. The problem now is that the sidebar is not the same.
When you click in Blog (in the main menu) it shows one sidebar, but when you navigate to Archive or Categories (from that sidebar) it shows a different one (notice the that the column separation changes).yellobee 7 months, 3 weeks ago
I also had an Optinmonster banner that appeared on all blog archive pages and post pages, and now it only shows up randomly… (this is in Chrome, I have noticed in Safari it shows up in all pages) I believe this has to do with the fact that some blog pages load from the categories and others from the template created. Can this be solved so all blog pages load from categories and the optinmonster banner shows up in all of them?

I checked the pages but didn’t see the difference in the sidebars.
Here are my screenshots:

Category page – https://take.ms/YZxEo
Can you show a page where the banner is shown? You can add it in your Blog Archive template so it’s shown on all archive/category pages.

You can see in your screenshots that the column divider on one screenshot is black and on the other one is green. Also the column alignment is off (see divider position in comparison with the BLOG menu item in both screenshots).
One of the sidebars (black divider) is loading from the blog archive template (where I did add the sidebar element and the black column divider)
I believe the other sidebar (green divider) might be loading from the Customize > Layout > Conditions (see Blog & Archive exceptions) However, I have tried to remove these exceptions and the sidebar disappears from the single blog page.
This didn’t happen before you made the update to show the excerpts (which I very much appreciate). I’ve also noticed the Blog menu item is not underlined when clicking on any of the sidebar links.
Please let me know if you can find a solution so the sidebar is the same. Screenshots attached.

The border color is different because the different values are set:
Change the Border color value in Blog Archive template to the same as in the Layout settings for Divider https://take.ms/NzyuZ7 .
Blog menu item can’t be underlined if you click on category pages. It will be underlined if you add some submenu items under it or make it a parent page of some other pages.
