    Hi

Our site was previously getting a 95 score on Hubspot site grader and now is down to a 70.

I was just wondering if there was some low hanging fruit I am not able to locate that could be an easy fix and result in an improvement?

    Thanks for taking a look.

    Hello,

    Sorry for a delay.

It may be related to a new WordPress 5.5 update as they removed jquery support.

Go to Jupiter > Control Panel > Updates and update the theme to the latest version.

Then update the plugins via Jupiter > Control Panel > Required Plugins.

    Let us know the result.

    Regards.

    Hello,

You can update the theme via Dashboard > Updates, click on “Check Updates” or via Appearance > Themes.

    Thank you.

    Hello Colm,

I manually updated your theme and the plugins to the latest version now.

I ran an actual speed test of your site and yes, the speed is a bit low (7.72 seconds) considering the size of the page and I think this is the reason why your score has dropped in HubSpot site grader. Here are my test results https://tools.pingdom.com/#5d029b2277c00000

Could you please contact your service provider and ask them to enable the GZIP compression on the server? This will help a lot with the speed.

    Regards.

    Hello Colm,

1 – The theme is updated already. Though, it will still show all the available updates in the Control Panel.

2 – It may be enabled but it’s certainly not working fine. Please checkout this link https://tools.pingdom.com/#5d03fb9d57000000 and you will still see “Compress components with gzip” option having only 1 point. If it was working fine, the points should have been over 70 and the total number of requests would have been far less than 111

    Regards.

    Hi Calm,

By any chance, had you modified any files inside your parent theme? If you don’t know about it and have a backup, I can do a diff check if you send the backup files of the wp-content/themes/jupiter/ directory. This can lead us to the source of the issue. Please note that in the updates, the modifications you have made directly into the above directory and files will be lost. That’s why child themes are a better place to modify your files.

    Hi Colm,

Please accept my sincere apologies for the delayed response. As far as I can see, for a reason, your widgets inside the Custom Sidebar are removed. Is that possible that you restore the backup once from the old times, then copy the widgets data and then upgrade and paste the widgets into the updated website?
