    Hi, I have had a very weird problem with https://www.timber-frame-suppliers.co.uk/ which has cropped up recently. Hosted videos (YouTube and Vimeo are displaying truncated vertically with white space underneath. This has happened with existing pages (which were displaying perfectly before) such as https://www.timber-frame-suppliers.co.uk/gallery/timber-frame-video-gallery/ and https://www.timber-frame-suppliers.co.uk/timber-frame-extensions/. When a video is played it plays as a smaller (horizontally truncated) but perfectly proportioned video in the vertically truncated box. However, this ‘fault’ is not entirely consistent as some videos are still showing without being truncated. I have attached some screenshots.

    Now, even weirder, I created a new page to replace an old one under a temporary URL – https://www.timber-frame-suppliers.co.uk/a-new-extensions-page/. In this the two videos display perfectly. However, when I copied the text and pasted it into the page to be updated https://www.timber-frame-suppliers.co.uk/timber-frame-extensions/ the videos were truncated.

    What am I doing wrong here?

    Many thanks…Peter

    I’m afraid it’s even weirder.

    The videos on https://www.timber-frame-suppliers.co.uk/timber-frame-extensions/ show properly when I am not logged in (although on https://www.timber-frame-suppliers.co.uk/a-new-extensions-page/ they do show OK when I’m logged in). I suspected a caching issue (using WP Engine and WP Rocket) so suspended caching for that page and then the videos weren’t working even when I wasn’t logged in. The videos do not show properly when not cached.

    Hi Peter,

    Right now, I can see the videos are showing fine when I’m logged out. Would you please provide your WP admin credentials in the next PRIVATE reply so check when I’m logged in?

    Hi Peter,

    Sorry for the delay, but honestly, it’s hard to understand this issue without providing screenshots. Currently, I see no difference between the logged-in and not-logged-in versions of your pages. The videos are playing fine, although they have black bars in the left and right sidebars of their containers which is because of the different content widths. Videos from Youtube and Vimeo will play inside an iFrame and iFrames are not responsive to the dimensions. If you enlarge the width, the height of the iframe will not grow and that’s why you will see black bars in right and left. Is this the issue that we are talking about?

    Hi Mohsin

    Sorry for the delay.

    Here are screenshots.

    It’s not black bars on left and right it’s white space below when logged in. The two screenshots were taken on the same device and browser with no change in settings.

    Many thanks…Peter

    Hi Mohsin

    I’m sorry, I uploaded completely the wrong screenshots for a different site.

    The correct ones are attached.

    My apologies – Peter

    Hi Peter,

    I see it now, Thanks for explaining. I added this JS to Jupiter -> Theme Options -> Advanced -> Custom JS:

    jQuery(document).ready(function(){
    		jQuery(window).trigger('resize');
    });

    Would you please check now?

    Hi Mohsin

    It works perfectly – thanks very much.

    Do you know what caused this weird problem? It only started happening recently.

    Many thanks..Peter

    I’m not sure, to be honest. It seems like the JS files are deferred or won’t get executed on page load, However, I tried everything on the WP Rocket and your WP Engine settings and it had no effects. Not sure what caused it, maybe a caching layer applied on WP Engine recently. Anyway, I had to use that JS code to fix it. By default, such an issue should not exist. The JS fix is safe.
